A&E for possible broken toe (child)?

I know generally they don't do anything for a broken little toe other than strap it but I'm feeling like a bad mother for not taking him to be checked. He did it 5 days ago, still red, swollen and bruising at the base of the toe/top of foot.

Google says just tape it to the next toe but some results say to take to check it's aligned.

Also thinking he may not be able to wear his school shoes on Monday so a formal diagnosis might be needed...

He's 13 and moaning a lot about it. Keep it strapped or take him??

Think best to take him to A&E for an x-ray. I have taken mine to A&E for a toe injury that was less serious than this, and they did an x-ray for him.

Try minor injuries.

I took my DD with a little toe as you describe but wasn't really sure I should either. It was broken and needed gently realigning, so im glad I took her.

No minor injuries here unfortunately.

Ah ok so looks like he needs to go. Thanks

Broken toes can only be strapped. The only broken toe that will require further treatment is your big toe. If you go to a&e they'll strap it.

It's broken at the joint so will get a fracture clinic appt through next week.

Glad he was seen, hope the appointment next week goes well. Wish him speedy recovery.
