What should I make for lunch?

Having some friends over to celebrate happy news for them. Want to do something a little nicer than standard fare. What would you serve? It's cold here this weekend.

Curry with starters, popadoms etc

Afternoon tea sandwiches cake and scones

We had friends over for dinner last night, i made small salmon fishcakes with a salad garnish for starter followed by an aubergine parmigiano with green salad and crusty bread, dessert was a fresh fruit salad with cream creme fraiche or yoghurt. Went down well.

Ooh fabulous ideas! I have the ingredients for cucumber sandwiches...
