I let myself go…

I let myself go… don’t take care of myself as I used to (ponytail, no make up and sweats nowadays), have 15kg to loose. Do nothing for myself. I am tired. I want to get in shape, i want to feel better with myself, i want to have healthy habits for my body and my mental health.

where do I start then?

I am not going to commit to a diet such as keto etc, would much prefer a healthy lifestyle. I hate exercising, sweating and have no time but I know i have to implement some movements in my life and I am willing to try but gym i a no go (money, time-childcare issues)

what do you do to feel good?

If you hate the gym and sweating could you go swimming?
Don't diet per se bit cutting down on white bread and sugar always helps me

I walk. A lot. Between 5 and 7 miles a day. It’s great for exercise but I consider it my ‘me’ time. I put a podcast on and away go. You could take your kids with you. Between this and being conscious of my calories, I’ve lost 4 stone

I walk a lot as well! I also hate the gym etc but walk a lot. I make sure I get out for at least 2/3 miles a day with the kids!! I don’t think there’s any specific diet that I could recommend as I don’t believe in them. Just try to eat well, snack less, drink lots of water and walk, jog, exercise more! And please don’t be hard on yourself. Being a mummy is tough and sometimes eating something yummy is the only way to get through it all x

nothing wrong with a pony, no make-up, and sweats. can you upgrade a bit? fresh hair trim and brows (just cleaned up) then tie the pony with something nicer than a dark elastic, at least put on some vit c face cream and new non stretched out sweats?
then cut back on carbs (not keto just sugary stuff and stuff that goes to sugar quickly when digested) then take in 60 minutes of BRISK walking 3 times a week.

@AnxietyLevelMax I feel the same way. But I have no willpower with diets so I can't keep my morale high.
I also struggle with exercise due to a slipped disc and I can't swim so that's out of the window too.

Stretching makes me feel better/good. It won’t lose your weight but it might make you feel better about yourself and make being active easier. You could do simple functional stretches while watching TV, stretching out legs, pointing and rotating your feet, stretching arms up etc. it’s amazing how few postures your body can stay in if you don’t exercise and stretching can make you feel good.
i also echo others in that walking is not only good exercise but can be therapeutic

I’m no style icon or glamorous person myself that said. Look a mess most of the time! I know how it can get you down.

I would focus on things that make you feel good. Ponytail, sweats and no make up would be fine for me but if that doesn’t feel good for you then maybe dressing in a way that makes you feel better or having a hair cut or things like getting your eyebrows or eyelashes done would give you a boost.

Lifting weights has been the best thing for me for feeling better but whatever activity you enjoy would be good. There are plenty of YouTube videos for weights, yoga, Pilates, HIIT etc that you can do at home and things like walking or Couch to 5K are free as well.

Other things that might make you feel good are prioritising sleep where you can, cutting caffeine, cutting alcohol, drinking more water, aiming for at least 5 a day and getting outside every day.
