Mattress firmness

My mother is looking for a new bed. I will likely shop online for her so we won't be going into shops to view beds and mattresses.

She is looking for a mattress that is hard but not too hard either. So I don't know what she means by that exactly. She wants a mattress that's firm.

I checked online and the different categories are

• soft
• medium
• medium firm
• firm

So I wonder would I be looking for a medium firm mattress?

What kind of mattress do you guys have? Would a firm mattress be a good one to pick or will I go for medium firm?

I don't know what to pick.

I love my medium John Lewis one. But it’s really not one that I would consider buying online as it’s so personal - any chance she can get to the shops?

Yes she wants medium firm.. with a mattress topper it's great!
