I lost 5 stone in a year eating sensibly and walking every day.

I’ve lost 3.5stone (still a bit to go) it’s taken me 14-15months so far. Less than a pound a week but getting there nonetheless.

Mittens1717 · 14/04/2023 13:46

I lost just over 3 stone in 10 months, it's slow but so worth it in the end

QueefQueen80s · 14/04/2023 17:30

Stone a month

cluefu · 14/04/2023 18:19

2.5 stone in 9 months, weirdly lockdown massively helped. Combination of lower carb (boiled egg at 11am, salad for lunch) smaller portions and more exercise. Changed from semi skimmed milk to almond or soya and naturally had less coffees than in the office

Obv things like not being able to go for meals and drinks as often and therefore not eating as much hangover food helped.

Still ate sugary treats but only if I really wanted them as opposed to taking them for granted. But didn't feel guilty as I appreciated and enjoyed them. Also allowing myself to be hungry and look forward to meals.

Once the 1st couple of pounds came off I felt motivated to see how much I could lose. Even now I eat less on the days I WFH as I don't have the temptation in the house and can more easily organise lower carb meals.

It’s taken me 10 weeks to lose a stone but it isn’t going back on so am happy with it being that slow.

cluefu · 14/04/2023 18:34

Meant to say, 9 weeks to lose a stone doesn't sound slow it sounds healthy! Everyone's different but I averaged at a similar rate I think and would have found it harder to lose more rapidly as I wasn't prepared to go full keto or cut out alcohol.

I know you can't outrun a diet but I also went from dabbling in short jobs to getting to half marathon stage in this time. Again WFH and lockdown really helped me with this routine which then helped tone up and encouraged me to eat too unhealthily after a run or hiit workout.

As my old, too small clothes started to fit again and my BMI came down it really did feel good. Not easy at all so well done on what you're doing.

Fast forward to now, I'm less strict and vary between maintaining and a couple of extra pounds. The exercise and lower carb habits have stuck but if course I socialise a lot more again. The too small clothes still fit too and I check this regularly as I genuinely feel so much better, I was quite heavy for my short height which can't have been good.

I lost three stone in something like three months when Covid began, which I've kept off. But it was too fast and kicked off an ED unfortunately. Slow and steady is much better for you OP! Well done!

Atethehalloweenchocs · 14/04/2023 18:45

2.5 stone in 15 months. It was quick at first, last 3 months have been a step forward and one back. I have a way to go so have to keep going, and am trying to find my motivation again. It is a long haul, best not to pressure yourself too much because I think that is when it all goes to shit.

taxguru · 14/04/2023 18:51

I lost about 7 stones in 5 years. Slow and steady, based on trying to eat healthily (but still with "naughties") and daily walking 8-10k steps. That was around 15 years ago, and I've managed to keep it off even though my eating isn't quite so well controlled and walking is a bit hit and miss now.

Prior to that, I yo-yo'd losing a stone or two in a few months due to very low calorie intake and lots of different exercises, but I couldn't keep up that lifestyle and the weight came back (and more) within a few months.

Wisheverydaywasasaturday · 14/04/2023 18:54

4 stone in 8 months. But the last stone is creeping back on so I'm being strict again!

Danikm151 · 14/04/2023 18:57

0.5lb-2lb a week is a healthy rate to lose. Unless you are morbidly obese then you will lose significantly more each week

Onceuponatime56 · 14/04/2023 18:59

I lost a stone in 5.5 weeks but now I’m losing at a much slower pace. Probably max of 3lb a month.

AbsoIutelyLovely · 14/04/2023 19:07

a stone a month aged 32 - lost 8 stone
a stone a month (keto) aged 49, two to go

prozac23 · 15/04/2023 18:44

Thanks everyone. This is reasurring me that I need to just keep plodding on!

Took me about six month to lose 3 stone

Low carbing and biking

Perpetuallyexhaustedtoddlermum · 15/04/2023 18:49

I've lost 2 stone since January by calorie counting and weighing out my food portions. I've also limited my junk food intake and increased my protein intake.

luckystarg · 15/04/2023 18:53

1.5 stone in 3.5 months, I was always in a healthy weight BMI so it wasn’t like it was easier as I’m bigger or anything. This was slimming world. Only time I’ve ever been able to lose that quickly.

tinytemper66 · 15/04/2023 18:59

I lost 1stone 10lbs in 11 months. The first stone took 12 weeks but the other 10lbs took 8 months.
