So, I'm sitting around in pjs, hungry. But we have no bread. So, for the first time, I decide to order from Waitrose, which does Deliveroo an my area. I make out an order, bread, and other things to make the minimum order. Check out. They want my phone number so they can verify me. There is a box starting +44. I remove 01 from my number and enter it. "We can't find your number" I enter various variants. Nope.

Does it work if you put your full number in?

berksandbeyond · 14/04/2023 11:32

you drop the first 0 from your number?

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 14/04/2023 11:33

They want a mobile number so they can text you a code, so I’d imagine it’s an 07 number they’re looking for.

MrsDoylesDoily · 14/04/2023 11:34

Just the 0 you need to drop

Theunamedcat · 14/04/2023 11:34

Just put your number in it will automatically remove the 0

crazeecatlady · 14/04/2023 11:35

with the growth of mobiles surely every number begins with 01 unless you're phoning on a landline to another number within your own area. When I phone my gp I just use the 6 digit number unless it's from my mobile when I add the area code too

TheFlis12345 · 14/04/2023 11:36

Just checked my Deliveroo app, I entered the full number just without the 0 at the start, so 7789123456 (obvs not my real number!).

BreviloquentBastard · 14/04/2023 11:37

Just drop the 0 it'll work

Treaclemine · 14/04/2023 11:42

It is possible they are assumiing I have an account already, so they would have the number.
I am on the ground floor of a town house. I have access to the landline here. I have to climb two flights of stairs to get my mobile. Why should I have to caryy a mobile round im my house? I know I have to for my bank, but if I spontaneously decide to ordeer food why do they need a passcode. And I can't read one on my primitive Nokia.

Got it. But they won't accept my card. It's been an absolute hassle. Won't repeat it, unless dire emergency.
They could specify mobile number.
They could signal the entry needed if wrong on the address form
Grr
