Ds sore red/swollen hands

My ds (11) has in the last 25 hours started complaining of sore hands.
I've attached a picture.

Does anyone have any idea of what could be causing it?
I originally put some savlon on them but he said it really stung. I've now put some aqueous cream on and he says that, unless they're touched, they feel a bit better.
I'll be attempting to get a Dr's appointment tomorrow morning but it's like hens teeth arou

Do I see little raised bumps in some of the rash? If so, was he out in the cold/have contact with cold? If yes, consider Cold Induced Dermatitis/Cold Urcticaria. Try an antihistamine to bring it under control.

I don’t see a picture but are they red and chapped from the cold & wind? That can cause the skin to sting. You’d be better off speaking to a pharmacist or get some O’Keefe’s working hands cream.
Advice re aqueous cream is to wash with it and to no longer leave it on skin as it may cause skin irritation.

Thank you! We did wash with it but then rubbed some in.

I've added the pictures.
It really hasn't been cold here recently so I don't think they're chapped.
I'll definitely be trying to get a Dr's appointment tomorrow but failing that I'll speak to the pharmacist.

Contact dermatitis or poison oak / ivy? Has he been out playing in woodland?

alexdgr8 · 13/04/2023 22:40

take pictures for a record to show medics.
i would take him wherever you need to go tomorrow to have that assessed by a HCP.

Thank you. Yes I'll definitely get him seen.
You can't tell in the pictures but they're definitely swollen too.

He has been out but only to the same parks as always, and he only spends time on the football pitches.

Yes. Thank you.
I'm always uncertain if a drs appointment is necessary and second guess myself, but the fact is ds is in pain so it is.
