Can't plant them until the weekend, shall I take them out the box and leave them outside until then or are they best to stay in the house in the box ??

Stand them in a shallow dish with some water in it. They'll need a good drink after travelling ( that festive looks very dry already) and it won't hurt them ( in fact will be beneficial) to be wet when you plant them.

Yes; take them out of the box and find a light spot on a windowsill for them to recover.

The weather being what it is I'd keep them inside for a bit until you're ready to plant them.

With any delivered plants, I harden them off for a week at least first before planting straight out, you don't know where they were kept and the reason most plants die when planted out is they have gone from warmish greenhouses to freezing cold gardens with a period of drying out inbetween.

I'd plant them into pots, and keep inside for a few days and then put them out for an hour on day 4, 2 on day 5, 4 on day 6 until you put them out all day on day 8 and only then, would I plant them out.

Ooh, are they Garden on a Roll (or similar) OP?

If so I'd be really interested in your opinion on them as I'm extremely tempted and trying to persuade DH that it's worth the outlay 😆

planthelp · 13/04/2023 14:51

Thank you all. I have done as advised and they have drank all the water in the dishes already, should I keep topping them up ??

Yes they're garden on a roll. We actually got one a few years ago (just can't remember how I looked after them before they were planted) and they have really taken well in the border. They're massive now, especially the rosemary which has just started flowering again
