Selling Car

It's been along time since I last sold a car, where's the best best to advertise, is cinch and similar sites get a good price or eBay? Want a fair price but it's needs to be sold fairly quickly.

Depends a lot on the value of it.
I'd advertise a £500 car quite differently from a £15,000 car

samestyle · 12/04/2023 23:19

It's worth around 9,000

It's worth trying Motorway. You upload photos and they let you know when it goes live for sale. You agree the price offered, or not, and arrange with the buyer (usually a car dealer) when they'll pay and collect.

Thank you not heard of that so I will have a look.

If you want sell privately auto trader but be aware of people visiting your home to view, wanting to test drive and best way to receive money lots of articles on this
last car we sold 16k+ we advertised on autotrader and it was bought by a trader for their business - I felt confident to do this as worked in motor trade for last 15 years

if you don’t want the hassle most dealer groups offer values some more competitive than others have a look at offers from
webuyabycar - usually lower but good to have for comparison
sytner we want your car

stratstone we want your car
big motoring world we buy your car

some of these will come collect from you and bank transfer within 24hrs

I used motorway last year. It is good and I got a good price but please be aware that some of the dealers that use their platform are a bit dodgy. I specifically used them rather than privately to avoid dodgy looking men that were tyrekicking and the company that won were dodgy looking men that were tyrekicking. I went on a test drive with one and he couldn't drive and was speeding - had to ask him to slow down and they haggled. I told them to piss off but they spoke with "their associate" over the phone and I got my price. The same price that webuyanycar offered so I should have just gone with them.

Private for money. We buy any car for lack of stress.

Oh also sold a car to Arnold Clark a few years back. They were fantastic.

I also used Motorway, brilliant service, got an excellent price for my car, no fees. Can't fault them

PickledPurplePickle · 13/04/2023 12:49

We used Motorway and they were excellent

This was for an expensive car

They will offer £6k for a £9k car though...

TakeMyStrongHand · 13/04/2023 12:54

@splilt they will offer book price and any decrease for condition. It's a 9k car when they sell it because trade is more. That's why they pay £6k for it as all these companies do.

Privately would be more but more hassle and risk.

I understand how it works.
