Song title from 80/90s

I have a bit of an earworm memory.
In my teens (1980s/90s), I remember a song in the charts where the male singer sang a phrase and the female translated it, I vaguely remember it being Maori, or maybe Samoan. It could even have been some Disney made up stuff.
But the female singers translated responses were "I love you" and then " love me too".
Does anyone know what this is?

Save your love?

Rene and renarta (sp) ?

A truly awful song, that somehow made it to no1, I think

Absolutely not Rennae and Rennata, thank you for that new earworm though 🙉 😆

Not 7 seconds either, that's way too recent.

Pretty sure it was a teenage boy and girl singing to each other, the language sounded (to my uneducated teen ears) like Maori or Samoan. The lyrics included "the sun and the sky and the sea".
I'm not sure if it was from a film?
