Scratchy noises in the loft at night

Looks like we have unwelcome guests in the loft 😩

What is it likely to be and does anyone know roughly how much it'll cost to evict the critters??

It will almost definitely be mice. Rats are LOUD. I've had both. Since we've had a cat in the house there's been nothing, we used to get them every winter before. The council is normally the cheapest option

My go to assumption for noises in the loft is cannabis farmers.
An elderly friend saw a piece on the news about a raid and was convinced that the noisy pipes were people who had broken in to use her loft for a grow.

Thank you everyone for replying 🥰

So. Been up there. Can't see any droppings. Difficult as the loft isn't boarded. There are some holes in the felt/insulation in the roof though. Guessing we need these fixing asap?

Oh no no no no
Could it be pidgeons?
Is it only night time? 🫣

Mice or nesting birds. Usually starlings.

Chicken wire helps keep them out if you have holes in the roof

We had a squirrel last year and it was getting under the eaves where the roof met the extension roof. I rolled up loads of chicken wire and put up under the eaves. No sign since

Hey, hoping you got this sorted but was wondering if so how?
