What shoes for safari?

What shoes/boots/trainers would you buy for a trip to Africa - there will be rocky, rugged terrain and it will be sandy in places. Lots of walking. Obviously comfort is my number one priority.
Budget up to £100.
Any suggestions welcome!

I know it’s Africa, but what sort of weather? Will it be too hot for boots?

CombatBarbie · 11/04/2023 19:55

I want to know what safari you are going on that involves lots of walking? We were always in vehicles 😂

I lived in Kenya for 6 months, sturdy trainers or light walking shoes are fine.... Unless you are going in monsoon season.

Depends where, are there tics?

I wore lightweight walking boots. You won't need heavy ones and they won't need to be waterproof unless you are visiting in rainy season.
Just something comfortable, supportive on uneven ground and that keeps small stones and sand off your feet.

As PP said, most safaris are in vehicles. Comfortable trainers are fine.

It will be about 25* daytime but cold at night. I think boots or lower would both be fine.

Lots of time in vehicles too but also some on-foot walks.

Maybe 'lots' of walking was an exaggeration!

Walking trainers/trail shoes worked for me.

There are ticks, so it's trousers tucked into socks at dawn/dusk in particular.

The wildlife walks are staggering. Enjoy!

I just wore walking trainers. I didn't do a massive amount of walking though.

Google desert walking boots. Loads come up.
