We have had a family member do it. It was with Nuffield Health as we have a local hospital to us, they list their MRI costs on the local hospital website which was around £600 for the actual MRI then I think £200 for the consultant appointments of which there were two. It wasn't me so I am going off my memory.

Just google private MRI near me and see what comes up. All the costs were readily published as a ball park figure. The one above was for one area of the body to be scanned.

Had one on my lower back at the cobolt unit in Cheltenham, was surprisingly "cheap" at about £300.

I think we paid about £1100 for mine which included the scan and 2 follow up appointments.

I paid £900 at Nuffield and £400 for Healthshare in Winchester. Both times I was referred by a consultant but it was at different private hospitals.

Mine was cheap by comparison - about £200 each for 2 body parts.
I booked through a company called National MRI about 3 years ago.
It was done on a Saturday morning in a mobile unit in a carpark not far from home and by mid afternoon I had a verbal report done by a Consultant radiologist from a major UK hospital. A couple of days later I got the written report and a link to download the images to my computer plus I asked them to send the images direct over the inter hospital system to my local NHS Consultant which they did with no problem.
I was very impressed. I didn't need a referral either, though I was on an NHS waiting list already - I hadn't decided for myself that I needed scans - so I don't know if that made any difference. But it was quick, efficient and pretty good value I thought.

Try Oryon in London (have several branches outside London too, I think. Or Vista Health. Costs are variable, dependent on time/day of appointment and how many parts of body you need done (i.e head or head and neck/one part of spine or more/one knee or both).

I had a head one in London a couple of weeks ago with vista health. £350 if you wanted it in the next week, £325 for 1-6 week wait, £250 for 6+ week wait.
Whilst I went at recommendation of private consultant the report from MRI went to GP, who is instigating follow up action.
