Tyne tunnel help.

Today I came through the Tyne Tunnel - from the North and heading South. I saw the signs and know that I need to pay the charge, but when I look online it talks about a barrier and getting a schedule of charge which I didnt get, nor did I see a barrier. But apparently I need the number from that to pay online.

I didnt make a return journey, as I was travelling back to the midlands, and didnt go through it on the way up.

Have I messed up? I dont want a £30 charge.

Just Google Tyne tunnel and go to the site. Put it in your reg and it will tell you you owe whatever they currently charge. Put in your card details. Done. Do do it in 24 hours though, I forgot til about 28 hours and did have to pay the £30.

That doesn't sound right. Normally you go on the website, enter your car reg and pay for the journey you made or are going to make. Ill have a look online now.

Sounds like you were reading a sign in a hurry - schedule of charges - isn't that just a way of saying the list that tells you how much any vehicle type has to pay

8 mins last midnight and just remembered to pay my toll, so missed the cut off by 8 mins. Crapping my pants now I might get a £30 charge

I hate to say but it's actually £100 charge

I think it's mean to impose a fine when people have paid within a few days.

If someone has paid by the time the fine is about to be issued it shouldn't be issued because you don't owe them anything.

But sometimes it can take ages to the letter to come. DP has received one just this week for forgetting to pay the Dartford crossing in July.
