Pigs in blankets in lunchbox, this is ok isn’t it?

Holiday club tomorrow.

I don’t usually do packed lunches as DD (aged 8) likes school dinners but her holiday club don’t offer a lunch option so I have to make one.

I was thinking of cooking up the last of the pigs in blankets from Christmas (I think theres 3 or 4 left in the freezer) and putting them in her lunchbox, is that ok?

It’d be with:
Cheese sandwich (50/50 bread and butter)
Apple
Cucumber Batons
Carrot Batons
Fun Size Mars

She always has a water bottle on her and I know the club do offer squash at lunchtimes only, so there’s always that option.

I’d happily take pigs in blankets to work with me but not sure what the rule is on taking them to school/holiday club.

Holiday Club as far as I know only has a no nut policy, everything else is fine. And I know at school the rule is no nuts and only 1 chocolate bar, biscuit or cake so I stick to school rules for holiday club.

If the answers yes I’ll be incredibly jealous of her 😤

For added context and so you don't think I starve my child: We will have a big meal when we get back from club/work (probably chicken and vegetable risotto as thats one of DDs favourites and I can do it in the slow cooker all day!) and she'll probably have a bowl of either shreddies or cornflakes and a banana for breakfast.

I think that sounds delicious. Can't see why it would be a problem

I did some today as part of a roast dinner and my DNs are taking the left over pigs in blankets with them to school Club tomorrow along with Yorkshire puddings and stuffing balls. It's their absolute fave bit of a roast!

I don’t understand why you think this wouldn’t be allowed. People put cocktail sausages in their kids’ lunch boxes all the time.
I send mine with fish fingers in a thermos flask 😂

Sausages of any kind will be fine, just like sausage rolls or any type of lunch meat.

Why would any place have a rule on it?! Can they be used as weapons?

TheWonderfulThingAboutTiggers · 10/04/2023 20:41

Er why wouldnt it be okay? Not sure what the worry is. It's not nuts... hopefully soemthing your child likes - what is your thinking here?

TrueScrumptious · 10/04/2023 20:42

Why wouldn’t they be OK? Aren’t mini sausages a normal thing to put in lunch boxes?

Hellocatshome · 10/04/2023 20:44

Of course its fine its food not drugs. Also holiday club is not like school they won't care one bit about the content of the kids lunch boxes.

PigsInBlanketsWhichArentMe · 10/04/2023 20:44

I thought they'd be classed as too salty/unhealthy, as I said I don't usually do lunchboxes, either she has a school dinner or when she's at holiday club does a half day so no lunch needed.

Sounds fine. Bag of crisps?
As long as you think it's enough for her why would they object.

@BigFatLiar She doesn't really eat crisps, we buy them occasionally but I don't buy them to keep in for snacking on.

If the mars bar gets through lunchbox security then the pigs in blankets certainly will.

@cavebaby It would pass at school apparently, one of her friends has a mars bar at school everyday and no-one says a thing - the policy for school says "No nuts and only 1 chocolate bar or biscuit" so I'm assuming the slightly less strict Holiday Club should be fine with it.

DS had ssg rolls in lunchbox, which is same thing.

BigFatLiar · 11/04/2023 12:43

Hope she has enjoyed her lunch
