Problems with Sainsbury's on-line

I can't checkout an order, keep getting a message:
"payment failed contacted bank".

Nothing wrong with bank, I've checked. Anyone else having the same issue?

I think there may be awider issue. I tried to buy something from John Lewis and couldn't, it says there is a problem with Visa and Mastercard cards (debit and credit)as well as some Apple pay and Google pay.

Ps fine using card on actual shops, seems to be online issue.

Yes we are. Supposed to have a delivery coming tomorrow but can’t process payment. It’s the Sainsbury’s site issue according to the bank who have had lots of calls apparently.

Actually Sainsbury's saying its the banks issue not theirs but its bloody annoying as i cant check out my amended order.

I had same issue with Sainsburys website this afternoon, actually had not used for some time so made sure all my details to date. Its definitely a issue Sainsburys should be managing, regardless of payment partner, its them we are a customer for. Poor online service. Wasted 45mins doing an online shop. Knew I did not have and card or fund issues.

Repeated order again on Asda site no issues all went though. Sainsburys have actually lost business from me now.

Poor show. Sympathy from those who already made an order where payment got refused today.

Tried several times still won't expect payment. Bank saying ok at their end. Tried phoning Sainsbury's but you get cut off saying they are too busy to accept calls

Fair enough if card systems down,just might be better if the website does not make it look like its an individual shoppers issue. They could just stop people shopping for a couple of hours. That would actually be helpful,so unlikely to happen! Personally I lost patience if Sainsburys can't be bothered I won't bother using their site.

A lot of these problems seem to be cased by the two tier verifications systems. My Amazon payments keep failing because of that.

Yep interesting how Asda site was fine about the same time for me anyway, could be down to way verification set up and monitered set up by different companies. Used Amazon with no problems the other day too though. More customer communication required all round regardless.

If it's any help, I managed to place my order by using a mastercard debit card, rather than a Visa one.

I do find Sainsbury's attitude deeply annoying when they keep telling you on their site that the problem lies with your bank, when there's nothing wrong with my bank and there's sufficient funds to pay for my order.

Of course the 'helpline' is useless, mainly because they keep asking for an order number and that's one thing their shitty system won't give you!
