Reducing bread consumption

Have been tracking my food in a bid to lose weight and have realised how heavily bread products feature in my diet.
Today for example:
Breakfast - poached eggs on a slice of wholemeal toast
Snack - hot cross bun
Lunch - mozzarella & tomato salad with part baked baguette, fruit for dessert
Dinner will be homemade beef burgers in a brioche bun with corn and salad.
So bread in some form at every meal...

I don't always have quite this much, but lunch typically always has bread either as sandwiches, crusty bread with soup or pitta and dip. I like toast as a snack or with peanut butter and banana for breakfast and dinner will quite often feature wraps, flatbread or naan.

I'm not of the belief that bread is awful, I think it definitely has a place in a balanced diet, but I think I've lost the balance somewhat!

Any suggestions of meals, especially lunches, that are bread free? Ideally quick and easy as I have a 9 month old!

Breakfast, swap the toast for ryvita
Snack - cheese, fruit, nuts, cherry toms, bits of cucumber
lunch - simply leave the bread out but have a bigger portion, certainly of the protein part or add in some small new potatoes although not too many
dinner - leave the bun out

You dont need to remove or swap out all the bread but could get used to having wraps or half a pitta or ryvitas so that the actual volume of it gets less

@bellac11 thanks for those ideas! Definitely think reducing could be a great place to start.

No tips, but I am the same. I have such a carb heavy diet! I'm trying to make changes but, like you, it is knowing what to replace with and still feel satisfied.

I have porridge and fruit or yoghurt and fruit instead of toast or bread.

Ryvita certainly, or Melba toast or rice cakes. With tasty toppings, they’re OK.

Eggs on large mushrooms for breakfast.

One slice of bread for a sandwich with side salad.

Fruit for snacks

I have exactly this problem. The fact is, I love bread and could eat it three times a day, every day. What I'm doing at the moment is reducing carbs overall and often replacing them with beans. I know there are carbs in beans but they're better than bread or pasta. so instead of a tuna and cucumber sandwich, I'll make a salad of tuna, cucumber, tomato and beans.

I'm not a massive bread eater. If I bother with breakfast then usually it's just fruit but you could add yoghurt, granola. Or warm ideas, porridge, omelette, I really like tinned plum tomatoes or grilled normal tomato's with scrambled egg and wilted spinach.
Lunch I usually just have a salad or soup it's no carbs but you could include grains, pulses, potato.
Or a jacket potato with tuna, beans, coleslaw etc.
Fritata is another good one as you can eat over a couple of days.
Dinner I just leave the bread out so if others are having fajitas I'd have all of it but not the wrap. I guess I probably compensate with more sides so, I might make a Mexican salad on the side with beans etc.
If others have falafel in pitas I'll just eat the falafel with salad.
Maybe think about writing a meal plan just so you can try and balance the bread more over the week. So if you had say pizza for dinner on Monday you would then plan say a risotto tues, pasta weds, something with potato thurs etc etc

@Waitingfortaco yes, exactly! Carbs are just such an easy way to feel satisfied. I usually crave them less in warmer weather, so hopefully spring will come along properly soon!

@Bluevelvetsofa thanks, I do often have those things during the week, overnight oats as well. Toast more often at weekends. It's generally lunches I struggle with most!

@JoeLovesGina love mushrooms, great shout.

@ColdHandsHotHead that's a good idea, sounds healthy and manageable.

@AtleastitsnotMonday good suggestions, thank you. Soup alone doesn't tend to fill me up, but frittata would be good. Jacket potatoes are also great.

I think I'm going to try to replace bread with veg or salad or extra protein because otherwise I'll just end up eating loads of pasta and rice, which I already eat plenty of anyway! I'm definitely a carb lover 😂 I've just said to DH that next time we have fajitas, I'll have salad instead of a wrap. He looked sceptical haha
