Can someone help me with the Vinted refund process?

I hope its okay to post here. I'm struggling to understand what happens next in the Vinted refund process. It's thr first time I've been through it.

I received my item but all was not well -item not as described.

The sale was suspended and me and the seller have been in contact. She's said that I should return the item for a refund. But how do I find out where to return it to, her address I mean?

Sorry this sounds so dense but I can't figure out what happens next. It was quite an expensive item so I'm keen to get a refund 😶

If you go into the messages with the seller, is there not a generated postage label? There should be one with the seller's address, if the seller has 'accepted' the return on this basis.

Hi, Thank you for replying.
Nope, nothing to generate postage label yet.

When you say that the seller has to 'accept' a return, how is this done please? Sorry I'm being dumb, I've only just started to use Vinted and never done a return before 😬

There is a help centre on the app that explains how to do it.

I've been on the help centre but I can't see anywhere where I should press to say "Return the Item".

Me and the seller have been talking. The seller said to me 'send it back' but that's it. I have no idea how to get her address.

It looks like the seller needs to 'request a return' for you to move forward. I've never had to do this so I'm unsure. You could always just ask the seller for their address then arrange the postage yourself? You need to pay for postage anyway.

Softmore · 10/04/2023 15:45

That makes sense, thanks

What happens if she doesn't do this, doesn't request a return? Do I automatically get my money back?

We were in almost constant contact earlier but now she's gone quiet and hasn't requested a return.

Just message her and ask her to look from her side for an option to request a return. If she doesn't comply, then she won't get her money released to her. You can contact vinted and they will be able to look at the communication you've had with the seller and should give you your money back after a certain amount of time. You pay for buyers protection with every purchase, so they should be able to give you your refund if the seller ceases contact with you.

No, that's not the case. You won't need to pay for the return postage if it goes through Vinted properly.

When you made the purchase, you paid the price of the item + a fee for Vinted ('buyer protection') + postage. What you should get back is the price of the item + the fee for Vinted. There should be only one postage charge, the initial one. You won't get that back.

Do nnit click to say your sale was ok and that goods were as expected.

ThreeblackCats · 10/04/2023 16:04

What do you mean if it goes through vinted properly?

In their help section it says you have to pay for it yourself

I can see the seller in that case knows what she is doing… I have a similar problem with the difference that the seller didn’t want to refund me or activate the “request a return “ process . She didn’t say that but I am still waiting and everything is on her hands. I am new on Vinted too and after reading a lot about returning items the conclusion is that if the seller doesn’t want to accept your return you are stuck! Even if you want to contact the Vinted team has to be somehow through the seller! It’s ridiculous. I won’t buy again on this platform unless I am completely sure.

Hi, could someone help with a vinted return? I bought a top and it was described as brand new with tags. When it arrived (taking 9 days to be sent) it smelled funny. The top was dark but when I held it to the light there were several large stains and I realised there was also no tag. I contacted seller who told me to either wash it or return it. She said that top had probably got stained I her bag whilst she was on holiday and tag had come off because water had been spilled on it whilst she'd been away. She said my purchase has been an inconvenience as she had to look for an Evri point whilst in Scotland. She didn't do a return via vinted just sending her address to me. I wasn't happy at this. I found her very rude and hostile and did not wish to further engage with her so I contacted vinted help centre to ask how to officially return things as the conversation with seller had broken down and I didn't want to return via any other means as I'd found her untrustworthy. Vinted replied saying they'd give her 48 hours to resolve as item wasn't as described. She didn't respond and Vinted refunded all my money. She's now contacted me again looking for her return which I didn't send as I still don't know how to do a return without the seller initiating it. I've never had to return or request one. Can someone advise?
