I'm new to indigestion - any tips? Do I need to give up coffee?

What fresh hell is this?
Indigestion is now pretty chronic and a bit debilitating.
I don't think it's heartburn. It's pain in the stomach and lots of gurgling and then, sorry, burping and belching. I can't see any pattern. I can wake up with it, and today had an hour of indigestion after coffee, doubled up with the discomfort.

I had indigestion very occasionally in my thirties and forties but now it's almost every day. I'm 51 and peri-menopausal.

Any tips? Is this worth a chat with the GP? I'm popping Rennies a lot.

The gp can prescribe medicine which will work better than over the counter, they may also want to check its nothing else.

Peppermint tea is effective at soothing symptoms too.

Onions, garlic, spice, vinegar and wholewheat are triggers for me.
