Where was this quirky, remote pub? Somewhere near Alston.

I went to this pub, a couple of times, in the mid 90s. DH thinks it was in Alston town centre, I think it was more remote (I remember walking through deep sniw to get there) Possibly close to the old drag line ski slope? We walked there, both times, as part of a day walk, but I think there was a small road to get there too.

Anyway, it was like walking into the home of a slightly eccentric old person, who had never thrown anything away.. There were the usual horse brasses and coal buckets, but birds eggs, taxidermy animals, flat irons, piles of books, tapestries, boxes of random odds and ends, collections of china.... all sorts of things. The type of stuff one might have collected over a lifetime that started 100 years ago. It wasn't curated or displayed nicely, it was shoved on shelves, dumped on window sills, hung off beams...

I know I haven't dreamt it, DH remembers it too, but we can't remember what it was called or where exactly it was .
