Can't cope with bras anymore, help!

I'm really struggling with wearing bras, I have non wired but even so by the end of the day I cannot stand the feel of them. I've done the boob or bust measuring technique and I'm reasonably sure I'm in the correct size. At 38 DD I definitely need some support. Any alternatives out there that would work? I think I've just become more sensitive as I approach the menopause and hate the feel of anything restrictive, especially around the band area.

I hear you! Not quite ready to give up my underwires as I had a year of crop top bras following breast cancer surgery so I like having decent looking boobs now I can tolerate a proper bra again! However, I've been tempted by a brand called Lemonade Dolls after a recommendation so maybe worth a look?

balloonspoon · 09/04/2023 22:28

Ooh thank you I haven't heard of that brand, I'll have a search.
I hope you are doing OK now Flowers

I struggle getting comfortable ones (34hh)
Recently I bought an elomi bra (albeit underwired) from bravissimo. Don't think I'll ever buy a different brand again.

I’m the same. I’m a 34GG. Can’t stand proper bras anymore. I just wear crop top type things from primark (used to buy bras in Bravissimo but they just seem like torture things now). I just accept I’m going to wobble a fair bit.

Bit of a mono boob, but so comfy!

balloonspoon · 09/04/2023 23:00

Glad it's not just me! Maybe I will try on some crop top types. I think the band digging in to my fat is the worst bit. I'm overweight and weirdly it seems to make my skin sensitive. Add in a hot flush or two and ugh.

OK I am going to sound like such an old woman now but is it hard to get over your head??

I hate underwired bra's, they're torturous contraptions.
I hate crop tops too.
I buy Playtex cross your heart none wired bra's for my double cups.
I don't care if I look like my granny in them. I'm all about comfort.

Nat6999 · 10/04/2023 02:24

I have Fibromyalgia so the Big Bloomers cropped tops are my best friend, I'm a 42GG & I sleep in mine so I don't wake up throttled by my boobs.

TyneTeas · 10/04/2023 02:27

You need to try a Molke.

balloonspoon · 10/04/2023 08:02

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will check them all out 😊

I find Molke (the original style ones) impossible to get on and off. I’ve ended up pulling them up and down over my feet rather than over my head but they’re still too non stretchy for me to put on comfortably.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 10/04/2023 08:46

I like Uniqlo bra top vests. I’m a 36 E and wear XL. I have limited shoulder mobility so step into it like a one-piece swimsuit. They’re not as supportive as an underwired bra but they’re pretty good for normal daily wear.

IronBan · 10/04/2023 08:53

Bikini tops, I had a bit of sensitivity when I was going through menopause. On holiday on the beach I thought this is much more comfortable and very adjustable. I had one top that was like a bra and one halter one.

mynewusername2023 · 10/04/2023 08:55

I got properly measured (boob or bust told me I was 44F but nothing that size fitted) and was a 40G. I bought some Elomi bras and I barely even feel like I'm wearing one. I will not buy any other brand now.

Skybluepinky · 10/04/2023 09:25

Make an appointment with yr gp, it could be that yr liver is inflamed and that’s what’s making yr bra uncomfortable.

newtb · 10/04/2023 09:36

Am 36FF and haven't worn a bra for 3 years. I had a fungal infection that wouldn't go, and my GP told me to stop wearing one.

stbrandonsboat · 10/04/2023 09:36

Molke are horrible. I got trapped in mine and it was too small despite measuring very carefully and erring on the side of caution by ordering a larger size. My rebellious right boob also insisted on climbing out because it hated it so much.

I also find the Big Bloomers bras the most comfortable ever. Would definitely recommend.

The molke ones also look a bit odd with the crossover bit I think

I found these on Amazon, they have good reviews, tempted to order and try them on
