Just cooked a huge roast chicken with a view to leftovers lasting the week but we’ve run out of foil!! What can I use instead please? No cling film either 😣

Will it fit in a sandwich bag or bread. Bag?

Greaseproof paper?

LadyKenya · 09/04/2023 19:53

Baking/ parchment paper will do the job, if you have it.

Tupperware, sandwich bag

greensnail · 09/04/2023 19:55

Take the chicken off the bones and put it in tupperware if you have it.
Or do you have a large bowl you could use to cover it?

SoftSheen · 09/04/2023 19:58

Bowl/pasta bowl with a plate on top.

Remove chicken from bones and store in a lidded Pyrex or casserole dish in the fridge. I always do this anyway, don't use foil etc.

A clean tea towel.

teezletangler · 09/04/2023 20:02

Put the whole plate in a plastic carrier bag. That's what I often do.

clary · 09/04/2023 20:04

Yeh clean tea towel surely is ok? In the fridge? But tbh I’d strip it asap and store the various elements in different plastic boxes.

Moltenpink · 09/04/2023 20:09

Casserole dish?

pickledandpuzzled · 09/04/2023 20:11

It doesn't need need to be covered. Foil won't achieve anything anyway, as it isn't air tight.

Mog09 · 09/04/2023 20:11

Thanks everyone I was going to carve the rest tomorrow as I’ve had some wine and the carving knife is in the dishwasher! Will try a tea towel or some baking parchment.

Deep mixing bowl to fit over the top.
