I'm listening to 00's bangers on Radio 1 and the rap and RnB from that decade was just spectacular. Missy Elliot, Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes, Ja Rule, Jay Z, (early) Beyonce, Sean Paul, Ashanti, Eve, Ludacris, Nas, Kelis, etc. There's nothing like it today.

What was the best decade for your preferred genre?

The 1720s were pretty good.

Vitriolinsanity · 09/04/2023 17:36

80's

Specifically 80-84

WildRosie · 09/04/2023 17:41

1970s. I'm a 70s child so that seems appropriate. I like a lot of 1960s music too. I started going off modern music by about 1988.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 09/04/2023 17:42

As a decade, on the whole the 1990s, but specifically 1998-2004 for me!

readbooksdrinktea · 09/04/2023 17:44

80s.

TomHanksIsFuckingAmazing · 09/04/2023 17:46

90s - the first half. Fucking mint 👌

SleepingisanArt · 09/04/2023 17:48

80s and some 1979 and some early 90's

ThreeRingCircus · 09/04/2023 18:31

90s as a decade for me, particularly 90s dance music.

SunUp · 09/04/2023 18:32

80s.

Mumped · 09/04/2023 18:34

The 90s. All of it.

Dance music - back end of acid house, house, jungle, garage.

Hiphop
R&B
Reggae dancehall

T’was the best!

LauraNorda · 09/04/2023 18:36

Best period for me was 1978 to 1986.

They say the golden year for music is when you were 14. Certainly true for me (1982).

ExtremelyDetermined · 09/04/2023 18:36

Early 80s for me. Nothing since has come close.

bizzywiththefizzy · 09/04/2023 18:39

The decades of the 70's and 80's were incredible for music . When you consider what they were buying in the sixties , I mean Cilla Black . 😆
My teenage years were the 80's but I do listen to a lot of 70's music .

NashvilleQueen · 09/04/2023 18:39

Early 1990s

No issue with your choice but there were some truly terrible acts in the 70s and 80s amongst the good ones!

MissMaple82 · 09/04/2023 18:40

80's and 90's

jaqueandjill · 09/04/2023 18:40

Late 70s/early 80s. I was a small child then so don't remember it first time round.

User639762456 · 09/04/2023 18:42

1978 until 1984

UsingChangeofName · 09/04/2023 18:43

80s.

Though there's a LOT of great music came out of the 60s too.

JacobsCrackersCheeseFogg · 09/04/2023 18:45

1990s. I was a grunge girl.

User639762456 · 09/04/2023 18:46

60s until late 90s all had some ok stuff, it all seemed to die when we stopped buying records and CDs and people didn't care as much. Streaming has killed it completely.

This is true for me, I turned 14 in 2000 and I’d agree with 1998-2004 as mentioned above, specifically punk rock.

WestendVBroadway · 09/04/2023 18:47

80s , nothing else comes close!

Yes @Hamsterrace!! mid 90s upwards for RnB and the 00s. Brandy and Monica the boy is mine etc etc

shellyleppard · 09/04/2023 18:52
