Just what the title says really, how many Eggs do you buy the kids? Do they get Eggs from others too etc?
I'm asking as I usually buy mine a few each. A, big, a medium a couple of small. And they usually get 2 or 3from family.

One egg and a new digger/truck he's wanted for a while, no hunt this year as we went to a friend's house for one yesterday. When we do a hunt we use bunny sticks or paper eggs with clues, with the prize at the end. DS has a pack of those tiny lindt bunnies from PIL with a book, a book from my parents. We've always said to other family and friends but to bother.
He didn't take much chocolate yesterday and gave one thing to me and one to DH without prompting, because he knows those are chocolates we like. He got a big egg, a small egg and a handful of foil wrapped mini eggs from that on top of what he gave us, which is way more chocolate than we would give him. He still has half a small lindt bunny from last year, he likes it but it's not something regularly on his radar. We will probably make rice crispy cakes or fairy cakes with the larger egg, we have family/friends with children coming round next weekend, DS likes making things and sharing them.
I really hate the greed that seems to come with Easter, there were children tantrumming and trying to pull chocolates off each other yesterday. Don't get me wrong DS is not an angel and can have his fair share of hissy fits but fighting over sweets....

One proper one and then little creme egg sized ones. Family get them things too and we always end up with tonnes of chocolate which hangs around for a surprising length of time

One big fancy one but dh went out today to get little ones for a hunt in the garden

Lots of small ones (the smallest size little solid ones) for the hunt in the morning, and one big one.

For those buying two to three only do you not do an Easter egg hunt?

We do a hunt, but it’s clues which lead them to the one (large-ish) egg I buy for them.

madamecake · 08/04/2023 22:58

One. Then they get one from each set of grandparents plus a bag of mini eggs or crème eggs in the run up (mainly because I like eating them and feel guilty not sharing)

SirenSays · 08/04/2023 22:59

Usually 4 or 5 and a book, I'll take any excuse to go book shopping. We don't do any egg hunts or easter bunny type stuff.

My DC have 5 aunties & uncles, 2 sets of grandparents & 1 set of great grandparents, most of whom are all at our house for Easter dinner so we just a big egg hunt and all the children, excluding the babies, end up with 3 eggs each + a new outfit.

That’s a lovely way to do it!

This is how we do the egg hunt too.

gogohmm · 08/04/2023 23:05

One each, they get a couple of others from my parents and their dad

scrivette · 08/04/2023 23:10

One from us, plus they get them from aunties and uncles and my cousins.

The Easter Bunny comes during the night and leaves clues all over the house, with each clue is a little egg or a prize and the prizes are usually books/small toys and a final big prize/large egg at the end.

The chocolate does last us for ages though (and they still have Christmas Chocolate left).

ShesThunderstorms · 08/04/2023 23:15

Just one. They have an Easter egg hunt so I suppose I do get them more but one special one. They have a book each and a set of bunny ears too.

HallidayGranger · 08/04/2023 23:22

Bunny brings 1 small boxed easter egg per child and some Easter hunt eggs to find in garden (those little hollow ones). He also leaves a trail of tiny foil wrapped mini eggs in their bedroom (so they give us some extra minutes peace in morning).

Then they get 1 small boxed easter egg from us and i try and do a book or small non chocolate thing. Last year was a nice quality animal figure.
This year I went for a lindt bunny instead of an egg because I thought the choice of eggs was crap, plus a little chocolate lolly and an easter craft set.

That sounds like loads written down but I don't think it's excessive and I would never dream of buying those massive easter eggs or getting them more than 1 proper egg.
They do get some things from family aswell although it varies year to year. More often people assume kids "get loads" so they dont bother, what they don't realise is the "loads" actually comes from family and friends, not the parents!

1930toEdinburgh · 08/04/2023 23:24

Wow is the bunny really a thing like Father Christmas. Ie they bring separate eggs?

One egg boxed is enough for anyone.! Plus a few egg hunt mini ones if they are lucky.

JFC.

One.

AussieKoala01 · 08/04/2023 23:39

This morning DS (3) has received 3 small 'fun size' kinder bunnies & for the easter bunny egg hunt, a few colourful refillable eggs were found with paw patrol stamps, spiderman temporary tattoos and some scratch and sniff dessert stickers inside them.
He'll get more little things from grandparents during the day too. xx
