Passport problem

I'm trying to get my first adult passport.
Problem is I don't have a countersigner at all I mean know one.
I don't know anyone I have no children so know no teachers gp's don't do it my neighbors don't have passports and i don't have friends with passports either. No work mates it sounds odd but I don't know anyone that can countersign.
I'm NC with family .
I know some Mumnetters will say how can you not know anyone but that's the way it is right now .
So I rang the passport office and explained all I got told to send as much ID as I can and a cover letter explaining why I can't get anyone to countersign then it's up to the office to decide on it.
I really don't want to lose money so it's a risk I'm not sure about.
As anyone else had this problem.

Accountant?

Have you got any clients? Self employed in what capacity?

madnessitellyou · 08/04/2023 17:26

Is this something a notary public offers?

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 08/04/2023 17:29

Can't the post office verify identity if you pay them for it?

That’s for certifying docs not countersigning passport photo. You have to have known the person 2 years to countersign.

It says its for verifying identity not just certifying documents

do you know anyone that works on the doors of a pub / bar or security. They all have a SIA badge and can countersign passports
my son is always being asked to do this for people he knows .

a landlord of a pub can do it as well

I know you said you keep yourself to yourself but do you have a Facebook? Post on your page asking if any of your friends could sign for it. Old school friends that you've not seen for years but you added as a Facebook friend in 2006 would still count!

Old school teacher or uni lecturer? What about a supplier or long standing customer?

Just choose somebody who you think is honest and responsible. I had my next door neighbour do it once. He was a retired BT a engineer.
