How should I repot my basil plant?

In a moment of madness I bought one of those grow-your-own-basil plants. It's been in the little pot it came in on the windowsill and now looks really full! Should I repot it and if so, how? I am clueless but so proud of my Basil!

Break into small clumps and repot one each in a new larger pot than you think it needs, water and put in sun or outside

If you put it outside, take it in at night. It will die if it gets cold.

Saw an insta on this just this morning 😄 The French Gardener or something. Break into smaller chunks and replant into bigger pots.

I imagined walking up and down in an exaggerated manner with said plant.
