Selling diamond ring

Does anyone know the best place to sell a diamond ring? I need money urgently but would like a fair price.

In my experience you won’t get a lot of money for it. I tried to sell a diamond ring a few years ago. Tried several jewellers in Edinburgh and I came down to London with it. The valuation I had on the ring was £3800. The most I got offered was £300 odd. I ended up putting it with a jewellers who sold the ring in their shop for me and took a cut. Can’t remember how much the cut was though.

My friend's got one that was valued a few years ago at £2,500 and last year was told it was worth £500-£600. Is the higher valuation just for insurance purposes or has the market changed that much?
