Obstructive Sleep Apnea

I've recently been to my GP as I believe I have this and may have done for around 5 years.

Been reading a lot online about it and came across a website that says if you're under 50 life expectancy for somebody with OSA is only between 8-18 years!?

Surely this can't be right? This has really scared me as I think I've had it a few years already. I know obviously long term it is linked to serious conditions and can shorten lifespan but I didn't think it would be this much.

Thanks in advance

I don't think anyone knows enough yet to give that sort of life expectancy as traditionally only those with severe OSA are diagnosed, but for sure they are finding out that more and more conditions are linked to untreated OSA. DH was diagnosed with very severe OSA in his early 30's (and had had it since childhood) and his surgeon said that he felt he would have died by 45 with the raise in his blood pressure at night
