What day for a cleaner

So, I’m thinking of hiring a cleaner.
I have 3 children, 2 dogs and am a full time student. My Dh works 70 hours a week and has never lifted a finger at home.
Since starting my degree, I’m struggling to keep on top of everything so thought I’d try hire some help.

If you were going to hire a cleaner, what day would you pick for your home to be cleaned?

I was thinking Monday we starts the week off clean, or Friday, in case we get weekend guests….

Mondays get complicated because of Bank Holidays. I'd say Friday but I have a feeling that Friday is popular so the cleaner might be already fully booked.

The day that you are back before everyone else so that you can enjoy walking into a clean house and possibly a quiet cup of tea/coffee!!! Honestly it’s a blissful experience!

No to Mondays, Fridays are nuts. Thursdays were usually my preference…

I prefer Mondays for my cleaner - the week end is when the house gets most dirty as everyone's home

We found it almost impossible to get a Friday because it was so popular. We used to have a Thursday which was fine and it's now a Monday. I quite like a all day because it gives me a reason to make sure everything is tidy at the end of the weekend rather than letting it drift but it is annoying if there are people coming over at the weekend because it's not really clean by then.

I've always gone for Thursdays. Get home Thursday evening - bliss.

Still pretty good on Saturday morning. I do a quick clean Sunday evening and then because we're out of the house most of the week it doesn't get too bad before the next Thursday. If you choose Friday it seems to go too long and everything needs doing by the Thursday. And In anywise I'd prefer end of week because I want the house to be clean for the weekend when I'm home most

I have someone come in to vacuum and dust on Tuesdays. It’s part of my mother’s homecare package, and officially a respite booking. They are here for two hours, which gives ample time to clean, time to get Mum her lunch, and time enough to sit down for a cuppa. Gives me the day free to go to my knitting group and eat at a cafe, my one day away in the week.

It depends when you like to clean. Wednesday/Thursday are the days my house annoys me the most. Friday and Saturday I'm quite chill as it's the weekend and a little mess doesn't matter, by Sunday evening I like to get the house under control which means it's ok on Monday and Tuesday but by Wednesday we are reaching this place is a fucking tip territory.

@MeinKraft put's it perfectly!

You'll be lucky if you're able to choose. You'll probably have to take whatever slot you preferred cleaner has available.

Fynoderee · 10/04/2023 21:10

If I had a cleaner, I’d choose Monday so they can clean while I go back to work.
but I am a cleaner and rarely have a member of my team available for my own house.
Everyone wants Friday. Not everyone can have Friday. I literally get a regular weekly/fortnightly slot available maybe once a year so it’s whatever becomes available

Eggseggseverywhere · 10/04/2023 21:11

Cleaner here... Friday has always been the day most customers request.

Wallabyone · 10/04/2023 21:13

Wednesday here! By Tuesday evening it's a mess again, and I run round tidying up and putting all the laundry away ready for it to be cleaned, so it's a win-win on the clean and tidy fronts 😂
