What is this rash? (Pic warning!)

Does anyone know what this might be? It came up on Thursday, on my stomach. It itches a bit when my clothing rubs on it, but aside from that I wouldn't know its there!

I'm not planning on going to a GP or anything, but if anyone knows what it might be/how to make it go quicker I'd appreciate it. I tried antihistamine cream but no difference noticed 😕

Shingles?

grayhairdontcare · 07/04/2023 13:55

IT's shingles

L3ThirtySeven · 07/04/2023 13:56

I’m thinking shingles too. It’s the white heads and location and size.
Shingles is contagious to anyone who hasn’t had chicken pox or the vaccine.

I dis wonder, but it's such a small area (maybe a bit bigger than a 50p) and I thought was usually a bit more of a stripe? Plus it doesn't hurt, and only itches when rubbed against which I think is not classic for shingles? I generally feel fine, bit of a runny nose but I think that's the start of hay fever season!

I had a line of just 6 blisters under my shoulder blade… OMG it was so incredibly sore.. I couldn’t wear a bra for two weeks… and even then my top really really hurt!

CatalinaWineMixer · 07/04/2023 14:00

Impetigo?

Cherryblossomtreesforever · 07/04/2023 14:01

Intertrigo.

Greentree1 · 07/04/2023 14:01

If it's shingles you really want to get the anti viral from your Doctor, as soon as possible, it reduces the worst of the symptoms if taken soon enough. It may get much worse and the after effects can be really nasty as well.

EnterFunnyNameHere · 07/04/2023 14:06

I'm not really sure I could get to a doctor even if I wanted to given it's Easter 😕 I had just assumed shingles would hurt - if it wasn't for spotting it in the mirror yesterday I'd have not even known it was there!

Is it where a jeans button has been ? It could be an allergy to nickle. But get it checked I think it's shingles too

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 07/04/2023 14:18

Looks like impetigo to me. I'd keep it covered with a non stick dressing and get it seen after the weekend if it's still bothering you.

EnterFunnyNameHere · 07/04/2023 14:21

I thought impetigo was more yellow and crusty (lovely) but maybe not! I don't think it can be a contact allergy, it's quite high up... it just gets rubbed by my jeans when I sit down because my belly squidges down and my jeans ate high waisted!!

It does get yellow and crusty so keep an eye on it.

Got any hydracortisone cream, that might help?

KnottyKnitting · 07/04/2023 14:35

Looks exactly like shingles- it doesn't always hurt- just can be very itchy. It is not airborne so will only give someone chicken pox ( who hasn't had it) if they come into contact with the blisters.

Can you get hold of some Zovirax/ acyclovir cream? DD had this when she was really small and the doctor prescribed this.

Tulipvase · 07/04/2023 14:36

i think shingles and you need the anti virals within a certain amount of time or they don’t work.

Might be worth asking for a GP appointment at a walk-in centre if you have one. Shingles can become really quite painful.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 07/04/2023 14:39

Shingles. It’s not akways a stripe. I’ve had it 3 times in a blob and it looks like that.

Vaguely itchy and vaguely sore.

EnterFunnyNameHere · 07/04/2023 14:42

Bugger, we'll shingles seems most likely then. Not sure how I can get in touch with a doctor on the first day of a 4 day weekend though, I'm rural, there aren't any walk in centres near me! I don't know what to do now! Aside from be grateful it's not bothering me!!

Did you get any treatment or just ignore it until it went away?

OP posts:
cocksstrideintheevening · 07/04/2023 14:47

Shingles. I ignored it as it wasn't painful left it till it was really ducking painful and it was too late for the antivirals. Ended up on amitryptaline and two weeks off work as I couldn't bear any clothing touching it.

cocksstrideintheevening · 07/04/2023 14:47

Fucking!

User639762456 · 07/04/2023 14:52

I had very mild shingles after my Moderna covid jab and it looked just like that, it also itched but fortunately didn't get any worse, I didn't have any treatment and it went after about 2 weeks, mine was a couple of cm under my left breast. I think you get it if you are a bit run down which I did feel after my jab

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 07/04/2023 14:53

l went straight to GP and got anti virals. Each time.

Greentree1 · 07/04/2023 14:54

You could try 111 they might be able to get you an appointment. I don't know how much discretion they have but they might be able to get you a prescription if they agree it's shingles.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 07/04/2023 14:57

I’d call 111 and ask about antivirals.

I had a similar sized shingles rash recently and got treatment on day 1 which stopped it from getting any more than just annoying.
