What would you do?

Having surgery on Wednesday to do a wide local excision and lymph node clearance on my left shoulder and armpit, they will also be removing a second melanoma on the right side of my neck by my carotid artery.

DH will be picking me up but unfortunately for me the car park is across a main road, down the street a bit, over another main road. So leaving in my pjs is not possible!

What would you wear for after this surgery? Also should I get a V shaped pillow to use in bed for a bit?

If your PJ's are what you'd prefer, just wear them. I would.

I doubt you'll want to lift your arms above your head so sweaters and t-shirts might not be best.

Maybe a soft button up shirt and cardigan or jacket that you can ease into, and then a soft cotton scarf. A pillow might help too.

I think if you’re obviously coming out of the hospital your PJs will be fine! just make you sure you’ve done long PJ bottoms, the type that are more “loungewear” and I’d also take a cardigan or jacket that doesn’t need to go over your head.

Isn't there a place in front of the hospital for pick ups? You could wait outside while he gets the car? Seems a long way to walk after surgery.

WandaWonder · 07/04/2023 07:23

There would be a place to pull up and collect patients, but regardless I would wear pyjamas

Anything zip up, yoga pants and perhaps a nice soft poncho if you like.
Good luck for Wednesday.

The issue with the drop off point is that it's at the Christie and you can fit 6 cars in a turning circle but each car has to move before the ones behind can move.

As he needs to come into the hospital to physically collect me after surgery he'd be causing a traffic jam whilst waiting for me to be ready.

I'm going to just wear PJs and fuck it I think

Don't worry about being in PJs there! I've seen it loads of times and no one judges. You do what's best for you and good luck xxx
