What's a good notes/reminders app for your phone?

I'm such a scatterbrain right now. I need an easy way of capturing random thoughts when they occur so I don't forget.
For example I'm sitting having a cup of tea and I've just thought that soon ds will be 11 and he can get a current account with a bank and we can stop paying for GoHenry. How do I remember that?

I've tried all sorts of apps, I don't want any fancy features about categorising my to do list or anything, just something really simple. Sometimes I send text messages to myself. I want to just be able to say or type "ds bank account" somewhere so it's added to some kind of list.

I'm honestly drowning in random thoughts flying round my head and I need to sort myself out.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions of what other people use.

The simplest one I know (and keep coming back to) is Google Keep. You CAN categorise things (and add photos/tick lists) if you like, but it works perfectly well without any of the bells and whistles.

I just send myself an e-mail with every to-do thing I think of and then flag it.
Every day I find an hour to filter and show the flagged messages and then pick 3 or 4 or more things that I fancy sorting at that time.

I add appointments to my calendar with things to do on appropriate dates.

Google keep. You can add typed notes, lists, voice notes, photos, drawings. You could categorise or colour code if you want to get fancy but you don't have to. You can also add reminders alarms if you wanted to.

The widget on android if really good too as it just a big button on the home screen that you tap and start taking notes in whichever format you want.

It also syncs with you Google account so you can view to sort and organise which I find easier on bigger laptop browser.

I second Google Keep - I use it for loads of stuff

I use my calendar. And the notes ap that came with my iPhone. Different pages for different things.

I already have Google keep installed on my phone but I never bothered to work out what it was for.
I've worked out how to install the widget thing so I can just hit one button then say what I want to say.

I realise it will start to look quite complicated once I've got lots of notes but I'll then go through them and work out what I want to add to my diary or whatever.

It was more to capture a thought when I had it and I think this will work fine.

I wasn't always this disorganised, I don't like it. Hopefully this will help.

Thanks for the suggestions

I just use my calendar (Google) it lets me do everything you're looking for in an app

Rae36 · 07/04/2023 12:07

My Google calendar is connected to the alexa so people remember to go places. I don't want all my pointless reminders popping up on alexa. Would that happen? I need to find another alexa calendar I think but it's all just too complicated for me.

I don't know I'm afraid I don't have an Alexa. There are family calendar apps you can use for that purpose though
