Any techies? Spreadsheet issues - need to collaborate on a schedule with friends, cross platform.

I am collaborating with friends, to create a schedule of daily visits to another friend who is in need. We tried Doodle, but it doesn't seem to do the job. We then tried creating the schedule in an Open Document (.ods) spreadsheet, hosted on someone's Google Drive, which everyone is opening and viewing ok on their phones, but struggling to edit. If we all had the same apps, e.g. MS 365, it would be easier but it is a faff for everyone to have to install something. Can anyone suggest an online scheduling tool that is free, easy to use, and creates schedules that can be opened/edited by anyone with the link, from any device?

Can't you use a Google sheet inside Drive?
I shared one with some students earlier this week and they've edited it.

Yep, Google Sheets seems like what you need here.

ScentOfAMemory · 06/04/2023 16:15

Once you've opened the sheet, change the permissions to everyone being able to edit.

Yep, Google Sheets.

I rarely use MS Office at work now. We all use Google Sheets, Docs, Slides and Forms. Fantastic when you're collaborating with others.

Slightly different but have in past used sites like this to co-ordinate meal drop offs for friends.

May be possible to find a similar one for just visiting, or use a meal rota one but ignore the meal part?

I would, but some of the people in the group have iphones, so don't have google accounts.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I'm trying SignUp Genius, and if that doesn't work I'll go back to Sheets.

Why would iPhone stop you using sheets? I use it on my phone all the time. Are the permissions set to anyone with the link can edit?

ScentOfAMemory · 07/04/2023 08:23

I don't have an iPhone but almost all our kids at school do, and they don't have any problems accessing Google files/sheets etc. Some will say "but I don't have Gmail" but it doesn't matter, if you send them a link to the sheet/file they can access it anyway. We've stopped using Teams etc at school to store digital files and just use Google now, and there don't seem to be any issues.
Good to know there are other things out there though.
