Anyone work in a nursery?

I'm looking at starting to work in a nursery a couple of days a week because a lot of them are offering cut price childcare whilst you work and we haven't got the free hours yet! My question is, I've just been reading a thread that mentioned about it being bad to work Mondays as a part time worker because it messes with your holiday allowance. I'm trying to figure out how that would work in a nursery. Would Monday still be a bad choice? I know they close on bank holidays so it's it likely I would lose out because they would class the bank holidays as my holiday and I'd get less flexible time off?

Yes, you’d lose out, especially if they close for BH’s. You’d be off for all of them, but only have a partial allowance so some would come out of your annual leave.

Avoiding Mondays is definitely worth while. If you can avoid Fridays as well then that’s the best PT set up for BHs.

Thanks! It's more just that it makes it easier in terms of my partner finishing work early on Mondays and Fridays so LO could go home earlier. So do people end up with more leave if you're not scheduled to work them? Or is it just that you're limited to taking some of your holidays on BHs?
