IKEA malm 3 drawer chest in my Vw up!?

So I’m going to pick up an ikea Malm chest 78 cm x 80 cm x 50 cm from a Gumtree seller tomorrow morning. Do you think I will get it in the boot of my VW Up! Can’t measure boot until tomorrow. Anyone done something similar?

Actually not the boot, but the body of the car with the back seats split?

My friend got one in her fiat 500 a few years ago so I'd say you can! But you may not have view of all your mirrors so avoid motorways?

Mum5net · 05/04/2023 22:49

Yes no motorways - just a four mile straight forward mostly residential drive and my wing mirrors should be ok.
Fiat 500 is pretty similar.

I once got one in the back of my 2008 Jazz with the drawers out and at the side. They are very heavy and there’s nothing to get hold of, hence dismantling first. So, probably with help (unless you’re not as weedy as me).

Jazz is quite a tardis.

I’m feeling more confident, thank you

I have a skoda citigo, which is identical to a vw up and it's like a tardis with the seats folded down. The shape of it means there is more space than a fiat 500 so I don't think you would have a problem.
It might be worth downloading the assembly instructions from the ikea website and taking a few tools in case you need to dismantle it.

Mum5net · 05/04/2023 23:33

Oh yes, Citigo is the same. I will definitely take tools. I built two Malms for my friend in September so I hope it comes back …

Why don't you google your boot dimensions?

Mum5net · 05/04/2023 23:47

I can only find volume in litres rather than the space dims
I guess tomorrow I will measure before I set off but I’m not going to lie awake and worry about it, I feel reassured by all your responses
thanks all

Measured, lowered the seats in my car and set off.
When I got there the drawer unit was scuffed and had a broken drawer side so i didn't buy after all. BUT IT WOULD HAVE FITTED . Thanks all😀
