I’m not really that sure why I’m posting this as it really doesn’t affect anything, maybe just to see if anyone else has been in the same position and if I handled it ok? I was a bit taken aback today during a dinner table chat about a young relative going on a date, we were discussing this and I asked DD if she thought she might have dates with boys at the same age, to which she casually replied no because I’m gay.
Although not what I was expecting to hear I don’t think I appeared shocked and just calmly said oh ok so you think you’ll like girls then?
Dd replied that she knows she does now, we had a relaxed conversation with me possibly rambling a little about gay friends I had at school and also saying that I’d always be happy with whatever makes her happy, which is completely true, has anyone else been in this position? Especially with a child so young?

I knew I had feelings for girls at that age but it was different times and I daren't say anything. I am bi now but no-one knows because I am in a straight relationship. It's wonderful that she feels she can talk to you and have an open dialogue. It may be a phase it may not but its best your daughter believes that either way you dont mind and are happy for her to explore her feelings.

As above that's wonderful she can tell you.

I would add she shouldn't pigeon hole herself though and put her self into any catagory.

I only say that because dd went to all girls school where that was the fashion.
