How much did finances influence your decision to have children?

I'll preface this by saying I'm a natural worrier and at the moment, my partner and I are fairly financially stable,

We have a pretty big mortgage of around £900pm plus one car on finance and one we own out right and we manage well with just the two of us.

I'm 36 this year and unfortunately, time is not on my side with regards to ttc.

Im so worried that if we have a baby, we'll be skint for the next 20 years! But on the other side, im worried about not having a family.

I know people will say you never have enough money for a child and the timings never perfect but I've been homeless in the past, so the thought of having little money for emergencies terrifies me.

This post feels a bit rambley but if anyone could give me some sound advice, I'd really appreciate it.
