I have no experience and I'm broke so can't afford long term lessons. But to just try something new and fun out for a couple of hours what am I best going with? It will be with an instructor.

Skiing 100%. If you snowboard you’ll spend most of the time on your arse whereas with skiing you can feel a bit more in control straight away.

I’ve learned both and skiing is much easier to get started with.

Skiing is easier. Anyone can ski down a green or blue slope after 3 or 4 lessons. Most people still falling flat on arse after a week snowboarding lessons. My husband and 12 year old so do both (I only ski) and both agree skiing is easier, boarding is more satisfying. If flying down a mountain with the wind in your hair is what you want and you want to get there quick then go for skiing!

I was expecting skiing to be the sensible option so that's interesting it's more fun for beginners. Looking forward to it now.

I was going to say snowboarding purely because I'm a rubbish skier and I'm scared of my legs ending up in two directions. I've never tried snowboarding though!
