If centaurs were real and other barmy questions

So, babies are born with very limited head control. Foals are born with head control

Would a centaur be born with a floppy neck, or have head control?

Would have head control because the neck is horsey surely

As an aside, I find centaurs weirdly sexy

Soubriquet · 05/04/2023 11:22

But it’s not. The head (upper body) is human..

If time travel is possible , is it like back to the future time travel etc?

6namechang3 · 05/04/2023 11:28

I think as they have human brains and heads they would born at the same stage of development as human babies, ie be helpless rather than running around after birth like a foal

LunaNorth · 05/04/2023 11:31

Surely their back end would be running around, while the front was flopping about, getting under the hooves, all sorts.

It’d be like that bloke out of East 17 running over his own head.

Recipe for disaster.

Wouldn't they get stuck at the shoulders - the human ones, not the horsey ones? Surely they'd have to be a c-section delivery by vet and midwife ouch And the vet announce the sex, unless they're always male (my knowledge of centaurs obviously very sketchy)

6namechang3 · 05/04/2023 11:33

Would a pregnant female centaurs bump be on the human torso or in the horses tummy?

Baby centaurs would have to have head control, I think.

Foals can run within a few hours of birth. You’d need head control for that.

I don’t think it would make much sense for the adult centaurs to be carrying helpless baby centaurs around because it’d be trickier for them to bend down to pick up babies.

dietcokelime · 05/04/2023 11:39

I think they'd have head control, surely half the point of being a hybrid is the best of both worlds? That and I can't imagine them being much fun to pick up and walk around supporting the head so centaur parents probably cba with that!

I think the bump would be on the horsey part as that's where the vagina is surely? Long way to push the baby out if the bump is on the front.

I think the sex would be terrible, hooves and tails everywhere and you're also a full horses body length away from your partner, very un-intimate!

Iam4eels · 05/04/2023 11:40

In mythology baby centaurs are carried in the horse part of the body and pregnancy lasts around a year so they'd be born more developed? Their brains aren't like human brains, for one thing they're controlling six limbs instead of four and a whole load of horse anatomy/organs as well as human anatomy/organs so their brains probably do develop a lot faster than human brains. They originated either from a demi-god and a nymph or a demi-god who shagged a herd of horses so safe to say they're magical and that speeds up brain development too.

But do they breastfeed from the human half or the horse half?

Soubriquet · 05/04/2023 13:15

Now that’s an interesting question!!

On a similar vein, mermaids. We know they are half human, half fish. It ain’t dolphin, or whale it’s fish. And mermaids are usually born in mermaid purses which indicates eggs…so so the babies breastfeed, or go straight to eating?

The breastfeeding depends if they are like a baby human or a baby foal. If like a baby human they would breast feed from the human breasts, held in their mothers arms. If they were more like a foal they would feed in a standing position from the equine teats! Need to think about mermaids now.
