Bank holiday inspiration for UK breaks

Want to make the most of bank holiday and school strike days and plan a long weekend/few day trips - looking for inspiration, can you help?

We have 3DC - 11,8 and nearly 3. live near London so looking for other areas to visit. Love Pembrokshire and Norfolk but feel we've done them lots and not ideal for a weekend. Happy to drive or travel by train for a few hours - or to split up a longer journey to make a road trip.

Also happy with either country or city but ideally not proper camping as we'll be doing that over summer.

Ideas so far are: York, Edinburgh, Peak District; Dorset coast. Any and all inspiration welcome, thank you!

Oh and forgot to add- inspiration could be a city or location you love; a lovely cottage/self catering place you've stayed in, an activity you enjoyed - happy to build a break round anything really.

Oh, but probably not Legloand windsor as we might try and do that on another weekend before clubcard vouchers get devalued.

I’d write Edinburgh off if you’re driving/train - it’ll take most of the weekend to get there and back.

Peak District is lovely, lots to do. Chatsworth has a great kids farm for your smaller ones.

Northumberland. But don't tell anyone what amazing time you had. The fewer people who know, the better.

Peak District also has Gulliver’s Kingdom theme park good for littlies and the Heights of Abraham cable cars etc.
