Tumble-drying period knickers

I bought DD some Love Luna period knickers to have ready for when she starts her periods, but as she liked the designs she has been wearing them as normal knickers. Now that the weather is finally reliable enough to line-dry I have just been hanging them out and realised that the care instructions inside say 'do not tumble dry'. I have been merrily tumble-drying them for several months...

Please can anyone who uses period knickers tell me if I will have affected their absorbency? I don't have periods and have never used them myself. Thank you!

i thought it was because it reduces the absorbancy. my daughter uses them and i use a radiator in the winter to dry them outside in the summer . also i have underfloor heating in the bathroom and lay them in the corner to slowly dry on wet days in the summer .

I feared as much. I had better buy some extras!
