Does anyone else have a small age gap between their youngest child and grandchild. My youngest is 6yrs and grandson is 5yrs. I was just watching them play . Thinking gosh I'm old .

No uncommon. Embrace your family tree.

I once taught a family where the nephew was older than his uncle!

Not personally but a friend of mine was pregnant the same time her mum was - they were born within weeks of each other.

I think the granddaughter was a few weeks older.

My ex has a son that is 3 years younger than our own granddaughter.

my other ex (crikey) is expecting twins that will be A month younger than his own granddaughter (not my granddaughter)

both in their 40s.

My PIL were already great grandparents when my children were born.
So they became grandparents all over again (to my children).
It also meant that my SIL was a grandmother when I was pregnant and her daughter and I had several children around the same time.
Very confusing to describe!

My mate has a grandson a year oldest than her youngest. I think it used to be more common when women had kids from their teens into their 40s routinely.

ComeTheFuckOnBridgett · 03/04/2023 22:54

My mum and my grandad both had kids in the same year. My auntie is 2 months other than me.

MrsBungle · 03/04/2023 22:58

My DH is a month older than his uncle.

My 14yo has a 13yo uncle. My mums brother had children very late in life plus a big age gap between her and him. I had mine quite young.

StillMedusa · 03/04/2023 23:06

My grandson is nearly two. My brother had his first last year so they are a year apart, which is really sweet when we get together.

But a bit weird for my Mum... her eldest grandchild is 31, her youngest is 10m old!!!
