Anyone hired Rug Doctor?

Unsure whether to replace dcs carpet ( we rent) , we have permission to do as we please, we installed the carpet 3 years ago, but was a £6.99 per sqm one so not brilliant. And has flattened. It does have a couple of marks.
Were re decorating atm and wondering if its easier to just get new (200 with fitting) or clean it.
We love making it our home BUT we've started to save for a house deposit to of our own. Which is going to take ages, so every little helps.
We have to re paint however as dc thought they'd give it a go at being an artist! So need to repaint. And get furniture anyway ( which we woukd take when moved eventually)

So its 25 to rent one plus the solutions.?

We hire one every year. It is amazing, carpets look good as new afterwards. It's always horrifying how much gunk is in the tank when you empty it! Carpets remain damp for a while though.

I'd clean it, it makes a huge difference.

I’ve had one a few times, works really well and easy to use. Well worth it.

Do u buy the solution at the same time. How easy is it to hire.? And cost? Is it easy to use?

Also does it get lots of moisture out so dries fast on a warm day? With windows wide open.

They're superb. I've had mine delivered once and once collected from b&q - both fine. The solution lasts ages - I'm still on my first lot!

makes such a difference to the carpets and is honestly horrifying what comes out of seemingly clean carpets.....

JassyRadlett · 03/04/2023 18:29

And yes it dries pretty quickly - I usually do them in the morning and they're dry on a decent day before the kids get home at 5.

TooOldToCareAboutOthersOpinions · 03/04/2023 18:29

Perfect.

Solution is normally sold at the collection points if you pick it up yourself (you'll need a car if you do!)

GlassBunion · 03/04/2023 18:31

They didn't do a good job on our carpets and they were quite wet afterwards.

We bought a Vax . Brilliant.

TooOldToCareAboutOthersOpinions · 03/04/2023 18:31

Yeah have a car.
Im sure my sister got solution for a vax but was rug doctor one.
Ill see if she has some left.

I do my sofas and rugs every year ... brings them up like new! I get the solution when I pick up the machine. Honestly with a cat, dog and toddler around, it's like a mircacle!

Theunamedcat · 03/04/2023 20:06

I got a cheaper one off Facebook for £15 plus solution did a fantastic job

TheWorldisGoingMad · 04/04/2023 17:25

I found it a bloody nightmare to use and I've tried twice. I bought myself a Bissel which does upholstery too and it's so much easier. I can even do the car, sofa and rugs. Also cheaper in the long run and you can spot clean and get into nooks and crannies. I'd never hire a Rug Doctor again. That's just me though.

Roundlampshade · 04/04/2023 17:31

We hired a Rug Doctor and it was very good but also very heavy. Fortunately that meant that DH had to use it while I told him he’d missed a bit.

ssd · 04/04/2023 17:35

We found it left the carpet damp and smelly but maybe we didn't use it correctly
