What do you do about beach towels etc when only taking hand luggage on the plane?

I have one of those small holdall things and can fit all of my clothes in very easily (we're only going for 3 days) but what to do about a beach bag, beach towels etc?

The local beach doesn't seem to rent them, there's no mention of it in the description of the flat we're renting, and it seems a terrible waste to buy them and just bin them.

I have a beach bag like this that folds into a pouch.

There's probably a market for an item/garment that is equally suitable as a plane pashmina so it works as an extra layer/blanket on chilly planes and does not count as part of the luggage allowance and can also be used as a beach towel so needs to be easily washed and dried. Bonus points if it includes a way of being folded up and zipped/poppered into a beach/shopping bag.

You could easily get away with wearing a hammam towel as a pashmina/wrap on the plane.
