5am club

Anyone read this?
The basic premise is (once you get beyond the truly awful writing style) that get up at 5am daily, change your life, be more productive etc etc.
Did it today!
Had sex, a shower, set up 3 work meetings, answered 2 long answer emails, made kids packed lunches, started a presentation preparation all before 7. Feel quite chuffed.

In fairness I think my DH is going to have the 1000 yard stare for the rest of the day.

I did this all last year and I did feel better for it. I went to a 6am gym class and was home, showered and house tidy before work. This year I’ve struggled to sleep at night and it’s all gone to pot but I’m trying to get back into it now the days are getting a bit longer.

I don't get up at 5am but I do get up at 6am every day (which is around an hour before everyone else). In this time I fold dry washing from the day before so it's ready to put away when everyone's up, iron, hang a wash out, empty the dishwasher then have a cup of tea /mumsnet for 20 minutes before the peace gets shattered 🤪

Apart from getting kids ready, breakfast and making the beds it means if I'm out all day the house is sorted.

I'd like to do 5am to fit in a run but I'd need to work myself up for that!

AnuSTart · 03/04/2023 07:47

The run idea is a good one. I used to run daily but I've turned into a lazy arse. Maybe this will be my next step.

I get up at 5am anyway as that's when my toddler wakes. Am I supposed to get up at 3am?
By the time I've put the kids to bed, cleared up and caught up on work emails I'm never in bed before 10.30. Sorry I can't do 4.5 hours of sleep as my basic.

AnuSTart · 03/04/2023 08:03

I get it. I've had five of those wee darlings. My youngest is 7 so luckily I'm over that bit or I can smile at him and tell him to go back to bed.
I'm not sure how i used to manage. I don't think I ever slept

I'm up at 6am daily and unfortunately it's not changed my life, we'll expect for daily exhaustion 😫
