Help! School run teleportation device needed

Just in case any of you wise souls have come up with a brilliant solution for this sort of thing ... I'm in a bit of a school run pickle.

After Easter, I will have to drop off/pick up both kids (4 and 6) from nursery and primary, no car. Nursery opens 15 mins after school, and shuts 15 mins before school, but the walk from one to the other to pick up Dd1 is 20-25 mins for my 4 year old. Depending on the level of 4-year-old BS that day 😅

Is there any way I can make this work without shelling out for before and after school club?

Extra info:
I have a bike seat but Dd2 is now too massive to safely carry her in it; both kids have bikes but with stabilisers and pretty wobbly still, no bus route between the two, gave the pushchair away ages ago. Not yet found a teleporter on Facebook Marketplace. Any help gratefully received!

Can you get a tagalong for your bike? Or if you have plenty of money you could buy one of those bikes with a box for the kids to sit in front.
Alternatively one of my friends used to tie a bit of cord to her kid's scooter and just pull them along on that.

Or... would nursery be a bit flexible? My kids' nurseries have always been very happy to accommodate late drop offs and early pick ups.

MrsBunnyEars · 02/04/2023 21:59

Are the nursery timings fixed? Unlike school, ours would mind if you were 10 mins late dropping and 10 mins early picking.

Doesn’t help if you need to work during precise timings either side, I know.

Buy a cheap buggy off Fb market olace. Drop 4 year old off later and pick up earlier in time for school. Ball ache but do able. How long is the No car situation?

babynoname22 · 02/04/2023 22:01

March with said buggy to make it quicker??

SandcastleQueen · 02/04/2023 22:03

Nursery used to be cool about Flexi pickups but have recently have made it a rule that everyone queues up at 9am sharp. I suppose no harm in going back and begging!

Unfortunately not minted enough to buy a trailer/new bike for all of 4 months use before Dd2 starts primary (please God let her get in the same primary)

Cheap buggy might be the cheapest option tbf, I would probably get a bit fitter pushing it too!

Would a scooter be an option?

Highlyflavouredgravy · 02/04/2023 22:04

Cheap buggy off ebay or something

SandcastleQueen · 02/04/2023 22:06

Dh has new car-necessary job so no car for the foreseeable. Scooter might just make it by the skin of our teeth. And probably leaving both skin and teeth in the road if I know DD2

Scooter for 4yo. They can scoot until they get bored/ tired, then when they give up you just attach a dog lead (yes, you can buy proper straps but this is way cheaper). Child stands on scooter, you pull along. Zoom!

parietal · 02/04/2023 22:07

tell nursery you'll be running to different timings

scooter with strap for you to pull will definitely hurry things up.

Keep an eye on Facebook marketplace/Gumtree/eBay for a tag along. They come up reasonably frequently near me and I think they're the kind of thing that people buy and sell on fairly quickly. It would definitely be the easiest solution.

SandcastleQueen · 02/04/2023 22:14

Thanks all! Plan: spend Easter scouring FB for deals, if no joy then fix dog lead/ bottle rocket to scooter. Hopefully it'll get easier in Sept!

Argos have strollers for £35

Geneticsbunny · 02/04/2023 23:32

Could you walk between the two on 15 mins without a child? We managed a similar feat with a balance bike which speeded things up just enough to make it.

RomeoOscar · 02/04/2023 23:46

Scooter and make a game of it. Build a narrative into it every day. Make it fun.

Explain situation to both places and that you'll be doing everything in your power to make it on time. If they know they might be a bit more understanding.

Buddy up with someone in a similar situation.
