Moving to uk (Cornwall)

Me and Dh seriously considering moving to the uk in the next couple of months. Were not big into city life and live in a very rural town at the minute. I have a few friends and also a sister in law living in Fowey. It would be a big move but have had a couple of job offers not to far from that area and we have a holiday booked in a few weeks to visit. The problem being now is none of them have children and im struggling to understand the school system they are primary aged. Im also wondering what life is like there especially for people with children. If anyone could give me their experience thanks ☺️

Hi we're in the same boat! We are in the UK but we're looking to understand Fowey schools better and their qualities. Did you find anything out yet? :-)

To the previous poster, best place to learn about schools is to read the Ofsted reports (with a grain of salt) and ask on local Fowey facebook groups. Ofsted won’t give you the full picture, but it will at least give you a sense of which to avoid. Narrow down the list and visit those for a feel for them.

As for moving to Cornwall, I’d recommend a visit in January/February and in August, so you see what’s like when things close up for winter and what it’s like when the hordes descend.

I live on the Devon/Cornwall border and I love it, but summer can be chaos. It’s temporary and often we get the best weather in September when half the UK has left. But we do avoid certain parts for those 6 weeks every year. It rains a lot in the winter. 😂 Like so much more than I even expected, but you just go for rainy walks in the winter and get on with it.
