OLD in the olden days?

I was on OLD sites back in early 2000s. I had some cracking dates and there was very little disrespect/ghosting/male entitlement etc as I read on so many OLD posts on here. The occasional idiot of course but the majority of men were respectful, maintained contact, and didn’t date women in parallel. I’m interested to know if this was typical back then and it’s all gone downhill since then and, if so, why in your opinion?

i met my dh online on 2009. I didn’t tell anyone we met online because it was a bit embarrassing, whereas now everyone does it shamelessly. We “met”, we chatted on messenger for a few weeks, we met up. Neither of us was chatting to anyone else after we met , and dh was actually my first and only Match.com date. These days it all sounds really seedy and I don’t think I would like it now if I had to do it again, I don’t think I’d get past the first swipe now.
