Online shop error

So, I ordered online from Morrisons via Amazon. Shopping arrived, I left the bags in the hall for a bit as I was busy, and didn't check them at the time. The number of bags can vary even for similar orders, depending how they pack.

I've just unpacked, and my stuff is here, great. However there is a bag that definitely isn't mine. Wine, thyme, sherry, baguettes, crusty rolls, packet sauces, oxo cubes

What do I do with this? I think I know which branch it's come from but can't be sure, but I don't want to pay for it, and some one is missing a not cheap haul. The driver is long gone, and I'm not sure what to do.

And someone's beef casserole dinner is missing all the flavour...

Ring them and they can sort it with the other customer.

murasaki · 02/04/2023 16:07

Ring who though. I've put a message on the street WhatsApp group in case it belongs to anyone, if they can tell me whats in it they can have it.

Tweet or call the shop they'll probably let you keep it

LubaLuca · 02/04/2023 16:10

Isn't there contact information via Amazon? That's the obvious route to take, it's highly unlikely that it belongs to someone else on your street.

Whattt44 · 02/04/2023 16:11

Either phone the shop or post a facebook shoutout .

MissMaple82 · 02/04/2023 16:12

Contact amazon shop of course!

TwoBlueFish · 02/04/2023 16:15

Phone Morrisons, here’s the details listed on Amazon for them

Its through the prime app, then morrisons. I'll look for contact details but they weren't immediately apparent, it rakes you straight to the shopping site.

I don't do twitter.

@TwoBlueFish thanks, I can try that.

I wouldn't bother. You didn't order it so they won't charge you.

They won't come to pick it up because they won't re-delivery groceries that have been out of their custody as it's not safe for them to do so from a health and safety perspective. It's not worth their time to do so for one bag of stuff. It might be different if it were a sealed case of wine or something high value and clearly sealed but for other stuff unlikely.

The person who has the goods missing will raise it with them and get a refund.

If it makes you feel better by all means let them know but nothing will happen. You've just got some free stuff.

murasaki · 02/04/2023 16:48

I called, but a 39 minute wait time for the call to be answered is not happening.

I can't do anything through the app as you can only complain about items on your order list, and clearly they aren't on there. I've tried, so I'll just take @SirTarquin 's advice with a relatively clear conscience.

I sometimes get extras in my supermarket online delivery , I don’t bother contacting them as they won’t redeliver to the intended customer . I know this from the first time it happened and I did call through . To be fair I probably wouldn’t want my shopping if it had been left in someone else’s house for a while either . The supermarket can’t guarantee how it’s been stored while it’s in the house , eg temperature, pet licking etc so won’t risk passing it along , doubled up with the fact the drivers are on rotas so it doesn’t work for them to drive back to collect .
