Easter egg hunt

I’m sorry if these are completely stupid and obvious questions, but where I am Easter egg hunt isn’t much of a thing and Im arranging it for the first time this year.

So, how do you make sure each child finds at least a few eggs? Age range being 2-11ish. Im afraid the big kids just end up finding all before the little ones have a chance.

How do you make sure eggs are fairly distributed among kids? Thinking of a scenario where one child finds 2 eggs and another 7 for example. Should the eggs just be collected to a shared basket and then at the end each child gets as many? How does this generally work?

Thanks a lot for tips!

How many children? Can you colour code the eggs so each child has to find their own colour eggs?

Will be 5-6 kids

My mum used to do Easter egg hunts for us when we were younger and would write our names on them so we were only hunting for our own eggs and would ignore ones with our sibling’s names on.

We used to do this as kids with loads of small wrapped eggs. A large part of the fun was at the end putting them all in a big pile and sorting and sharing them out! Just set out expectations at the start they will all be shared equally at the end.

Do different colours for each age group or individual.

when i have done it for my 3 and my niece and nephew we did clues. a clue would lead to some eggs/treat wih 1 for everyone and then a clue to the next. They worked as a team to find the next lot and meant everyone got equal.

We did a hut for 20 beavers and hid plastic eggs - they had to find 1 of each colour which they could then swop for a bag of treats.

We put them in the garden one year and they either melted or foxes ate them 😂

We did egg hunts with an egg box to collect the choc into - then each child can fill their box of 6 and when they're done they run in for a mini egg cake and drink while everyone finishes!

everyone collects and then there's a big pile up and share out.

Have a quiet word with the older ones to leave the most obvious ones for the littles to find, and/or stop when they've found a few and give the others a chance.
